Oh coffee, sweet coffee. If loving you is wrong, I don’t want to be right!
The good news is there’s nothing wrong with loving coffee if you prepare it the right way, so it doesn’t harm your health. This is especially true when it comes to seasonal treats like pumpkin spice lattes.
The creamy pumpkin-tastic drinks you’ll find in most commercial coffee shops are loaded with health-sabotaging ingredients like high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated fats, preservatives, fake cream and artificial colors, flavors and sweeteners. GROSS!
You deserve so much better than that, which is why I’m excited to hook you up with this natural and DELICIOUS pumpkin spice latte that you can easily make at home.
Not only will you be doing your health a favor, you’ll also save loads of money. SCORE!
PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE RECIPE
Serving Size: 16 Ounces
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of brewed coffee (Invest in organic coffee like this.or coffee infused with health-enhancing mushrooms like this.)
- 3/4 cup of non-dairy milk (I prefer coconut milk, but you could also use almond milk or quinoa milk.)
- 1 Tablespoon of pure pumpkin purée (Invest in organic pumpkin purée like this.)
- 1 teaspoon of pure maple syrup (like this) or coconut sugar (like this)
- 1/2 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract (like this)
- 1/4 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice (Invest in organic spices like this.)
- Optional: Ground nutmeg to sprinkle on top (Invest in organic spices like this.)
Directions:
- Put the milk, pumpkin purée, vanilla extract and pumpkin pie spice into a saucepan. Warm over medium heat for 4-5 minutes or until the mixture is hot, but not boiling. (You’ll start to see small bubbles forming on the side of the saucepan before it starts to boil.)
- Get your coffee brewing or make sure it will still be warm when the latte mix is done heating.
- Remove the saucepan with the latte mix from the heat, add the maple syrup or coconut sugar and stir the mixture vigorously with a whisk until it’s frothy. Or, invest in a handheld milk frother like this to make your latte super frothy with the simple push of a button.
- Pour your coffee into a mug and then top it with the delicious latte mixture. (I love drinking lattes from clear glass mugs like these, so I can see the creamy goodness!)
- If desired, sprinkle a dash or two of nutmeg on top.
ENJOY!!!
If you absolutely must add more sweetener to your latte, try not to exceed 2 teaspoons. That way, you’ll avoid turning your healthy latte into a sugar bomb.
Cheers to enjoying this super simple and healthy pumpkin spice latte!
With love and gratitude,
Kandi
