Honey & Salt Face Scrub That Will Make Your Skin Glow!

Want to make a nourishing facial scrub that will leave your skin glowing… using just 3 simple ingredients from your kitchen? Well, I’m about to hook you up!

It only makes sense to use ingredients from your kitchen for DIY skincare, because anything you apply to your skin (lotion, makeup, deodorant, shampoo, etc.) ends up in your bloodstream. That’s why it’s so important to use nontoxic beauty and personal care products, or make DIY formulas with ingredients you can eat!

This DIY formula for honey face scrub is SUPER easy to make. It beautifully nourishes skin with antioxidants that neutralize damaging free radicals, natural acids that gently dissolve dead skin cells, and minerals that support the body’s ability to retain moisture in the skin.

HOW THE INGREDIENTS WORK

Raw Honey: Raw honey has long been revered in traditional medicine for its healing properties. For example, one study showed that it works better than antibiotic creams for healing small, non-serious burns.

The same properties that help with wound healing also promote skin renewal, and that’s what makes honey amazing for skincare. Honey can even encourage the formation of hyaluronic acid, a polysaccharide that draws moisture to the skin making it plump and dewy. (Babies are born with very high levels of hyaluronic acid – it’s one of the reasons their skin looks so flawless.)

Honey also contains gluconic acid, a mild alpha-hydroxy acid that helps brighten and even out skin tone. It also has antioxidants that neutralize damaging free radicals.

And no, it will not leave your face feeling sticky. It rinses away clean and leaves your skin soft and dewy.

Himalayan Pink Salt:  Unlike white table salt which is very drying to skin, mineral-rich Himalayan pink salt leaves skin feeling fresh, soft and moisturized. That’s likely because it has 60+ trace minerals that support skin cell integrity, and help the skin hold moisture. Plus, its gritty texture helps to gently exfoliate the skin.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil: It is light, nourishing and helps skin hold onto moisture without becoming clogged or oily.

THE DIY FORMULA

This honey face scrub is a snap to make!

Here’s the simple formula:

Ingredients:

Equipment:

  • Small glass jar with an airtight lid (I use a 4-oz. mason jar like these.)

To make it:

Simply put all the ingredients in the glass jar and mix with a spoon until thoroughly combined.

To use it:

When it’s time to wash your face, rinse it with warm water and then scoop a small spoonful of the scrub out of the jar. Massage the scrub over your face in an upward circular motion. You can let the scrub double as a nourishing face mask by leaving it on for 10-15 minutes.

Either way, rinse the scrub off with warm water (I prefer using a washcloth instead of my hands). Follow with a natural toner and then apply a light moisturizer like this anti-aging serum.

Cheers to making your facial skin glow naturally!

With love and gratitude,

Kandi
