Easy Plant-Based Apple Crisp Recipe (No Dairy, Gluten or Refined Sugar!)

It’s the prime of apple season. You buy a big bag or bucket of apples with the best intentions of turning them into delicious recipes before they go bad.  And what happens?

You barely make a dent before they’re about to expire, and end up scrambling to figure out what to do with them so you don’t have to the throw them away.

Here’s an easy recipe that will help you to turn those apples into a DELICIOUS and healthful apple crisp that you’ll want to make again and again!

This apple crisp has a nice balance of fiber, plant-based protein and healthy fat. It also has a hearty dose of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants…with an extra health boost from Ceylon cinnamon.


THE RECIPE

Apple Crisp Recipe

~ Yields 4 Servings~

Organic Ingredients:

  • 4 cups of apples, cubed (Macintosh are my personal fave for this recipe!)
  • 1/2 cup of gluten-free old fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup of raw walnuts, chopped
  • 2 Tablespoons of pure maple syrup (will be divided as explained in the directions below)
  • 1 teaspoon of ground Ceylon cinnamon (will be divided as explained in the directions below)

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375° F.
  2. In a glass backing dish, combine the cubed apples, 1 tablespoon of the maple syrup and 1/2 a teaspoon of the cinnamon and mix well.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the oats, walnuts, remaining 1 tablespoon of maple syrup and remaining 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and mix well.
  4. Spread the oat mixture evenly over the apple mixture and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the apples are soft.
  5. ENJOY!

Leftovers: Store any leftovers in the fridge for 5-7 days.

Because it’s so healthy and loaded with energy-enhancing ingredients, this apple crisp makes a great breakfast when you’re feeling a morning sweet tooth.

You can pour a little coconut milk on top to turn it into a cereal. Or, you can top it with this clean and dairy-free whipped cream!
