Red, itchy, watery eyes. Nonstop sneezing. Horrible sinus pressure and congested breathing.
This is the joy of seasonal allergies in a nutshell. (Insert sarcasm here.)
If you or other important people in your life suffer from seasonal allergies, you know how miserable they can be.
On the rare occasion that my fall allergies strike, they take me down for the better part of a day.
I’m not a fan of putting any sort of pharmaceutical medication into my body unless I absolutely need it to survive. First of all, I don’t find them to be very effective.
And even if they actually work, pharmaceuticals come with some sort of side effect that can damage my body. No thanks!
The good news is you can effectively treat seasonal allergies in a natural way.
Better yet, I have found that the 3 natural options detailed for you below work better than any chemical allergy medication I’ve ever tried. SCORE!
THE STARS OF THE NATURAL REMEDIES
All of the remedies detailed below center around the natural magic of essential oils…specifically eucalyptus, lavender, lemon, peppermint and tea tree essential oils.
Here’s why these oils work so well for treating allergies:
Eucalyptus essential oil opens up the lungs and sinuses, which improves air circulation to reduce allergy congestion.
Lavender essential oil is a natural antihistamine, which helps combat allergens without making you drowsy
Lemon essential oil is a natural antibiotic, antiviral, antiseptic and disinfectant. These properties work together wonderfully to combat allergy symptoms.
Peppermint essential oil contains menthol, which is the main ingredient in popular over-the-counter medications like Vicks Vapor Rub. It helps clear your airways of mucous and provides a cooling sensation.
Tea tree essential oil can destroy airborne pathogens that cause allergies. It also works as an antiseptic and has properties that fight inflammation in the body.
Plant Therapy is the brand of essential oils I personally use, love and highly recommend. They offer FREE shipping on all orders!

THE NATURAL REMEDIES
You have 3 primary options for treating seasonal allergies with essential oils.
Option #1: Room Spray
In a 16-ounce glass spray bottle (like this), add the following:
- 40 drops of lemon essential oil
- 20 drops of tea tree essential oil
- 1 teaspoon of white vinegar
- Fill the bottle the rest of the way with purified water.
(NOTE: Stainless steel funnels like this make adding the ingredients to the bottle a snap!)
Shake the mixture well and spray it anywhere in your home. Be sure to shake well before each use.
Option #2: Topical Solution (like a “vapor rub”)
