Every fall when the holiday season nears, health-sabotaging sweet treats start popping up everywhere.
I love a sweet treat as much as the next girl, but I’m not willing to damage my health or end up feeling like crap for 3 days after eating them.
So what’s a girl with a sweet tooth to do?
In true Fit Life Ninja style, I head straight to the kitchen and figure out a way to make delicious sweet treats that won’t harm my health when consumed in moderation. And then I share my discoveries with you!
One of my favorite sweet seasonal delights is fudge. It’s so chocolatey and decadent.
But the typical fudge recipe is a poo storm of butter, processed cocoa and refined sugar. YUCK!
No worries, I found a clean fudge recipe that’s creamy, delicious and super easy to make! Better yet, it’s totally free of dairy, gluten and refined sugar. SCORE!
THE RECIPE
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of raw cacao powder
- 1 cup of almond butter or sunflower seed butter
- 1 cup of coconut oil, Melted
- 1/2 cup of pure maple syrup or raw honey
- 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
Directions:
- Put all the ingredients in a high-speed blender or food processor and blend until creamy. (I recommend investing in a Blendtec blender for a superior blending experience.)
- Line a brownie pan with unbleached parchment paper or grease it with coconut oil and then pour in the batter. (I prefer a glass brownie pan like this one for easy cleaning, durability and no worries about toxic coatings or metals.)
- Put the pan in the freezer for 30 minutes.
- Cut into squares and enjoy!
This recipe makes the creamiest fudge I’ve ever had! And I feel good knowing it’s not loaded with toxic processed crap.
Nonetheless, as with any sweet treat, be sure to enjoy this fudge in moderation.
