Decadent Black Bean Brownies (Flourless, Oil-Free & 100% Plant-Based)

I love being able to enjoy a sweet treat that’s loaded with fiber, protein and healthy fat. I especially love it when that sweet treat is easy to make with just a few plant-based ingredients.

These moist and delicious brownies are so drool-worthy that no one will even notice they’re flourless, oil-free and made with health-building foods like black beans and flax seeds.

THE RECIPE

DECADENT BLACK BEAN BROWNIES

~ Fills an 8×8 brownie pan  ~

Organic Ingredients:

  • 1.5 cups of cooked black beans or a 15-ounce can of black beans, drained
  • 1/4 cup of creamy sunflower seed butter (or other creamy nut / seed butter of choice)
  • 6 tablespoons of raw cacao powder
  • 2 tablespoons of ground flax seeds
  • 1 cup of coconut sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon of Himalayan pink salt
  • Optional: For extra gooey chocolatey decadence, add 1/2 cup of dairy-free chocolate chips (I recommend the Enjoy Life brand, which has just 2 natural ingredients.)

Ninja Preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F, and line an 8×8 brownie pan with unbleached parchment paper. (NOTE: Use bakeware made with glass, stainless steel or cast iron and avoid aluminum, because it’s a neurotoxin.)
  2. In a large food processor fitted with an S blade, add all the ingredients EXCEPT the optional chocolate chips and blend until smooth. If adding the dark chocolate chips, add them last and pulse just a couple times to mix them into the batter. Then, pour the batter into the lined brownie pan and spread it out evenly using a spatula.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees F for about 30 minutes or until the top of the batter begins to crack and feels relatively firm to a light touch.
  4. Allow the brownies to cool COMPLETELY before attempting to cut them, or they’ll fall apart. You can pop them into the fridge to make them firm up more quickly.
  5. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

Cheers to enjoying delicious brownies with a side of health benefits!
